SEPTEMBER 2013

AMADOR ANIMAL RESPONSE TEAM (ACART) next general meeting - Wednesday, September 11 at 6:30pm at the American Legion Ambulance Training Room, 11350 Airport Road, Sutter Creek.  Speakers will include two of our members who will share their experience volunteering with North Valley Animal Disaster Group on the American Fire near Foresthill. BALLROOM DANCING DEMONSTRATION - Sunday, September 15, at 2 p.m.
Pine Grove Town Hall. Six ballroom dancers will demo 16 different dances.  Lots of fun.  Come, watch, no dancing shoes required, any participation is voluntary, lots of music, proceeds to the Insulation Fund for the Town Hall.  Bring a friend.
$5 by Sept. 10 (Checks payable to PG Civic Improvement Club, PO Box 284, 95665)
$7 at the door.

BEGINNING SQUARE DANCE CLASSES start on Monday, Sept. 16 in Jackson. Square dancing is fun, fitness and friendship set to music!  The Jackson Claim Jumpers square dance club will hold beginning square dance classes starting Sept 16, 6:30 pm at the Amador Senior Center on New York Ranch Road, Jackson. PAWS & BOOKS – The Amador County Library presents Paws and Books, September 20, 2013 2:30-4:00p.m. Bailey, a certified therapy dog will be at the library to listen to children ages 5–8 read him a story. Pre-registration is required for this event and reading times are available in 15 minute increments. To register please contact the library 209-223-6400 or email:  library@amadorgov.org

GREENHOUSE GARDENING CLASS - On Saturday, September 21st, Amador Master Gardeners will present a free class on "Greenhouses, Cold Frames, and Propagation" from 9am to noon.  Guest presenter Sheri Burke, El Dorado Master Gardener, has many years of experience with propagation from both cuttings and seeds and produces over 500 plants per year in her greenhouse. This class, which is open to the public, will show you how to use your greenhouse or cold frame to full advantage.
The class will be held at the County GSA Building, 12200-B Airport Road in Jackson. For more information call the Master Gardeners at the UC Cooperative Extension Office from 10am to noon, Tuesday through Thursday, 223-6838, or email mgamador@ucdavis.edu

THE AMADOR COUNTY WOMEN’S NETWORK (ACWN) will hold its monthly luncheon meeting Wednesday, September 25th  at Thomi's in Jackson.    The September luncheon will feature one of our members as our guest speaker, Julie Traxler, of Traxler & Associates/ Traxler Financial Services. We make it fun to learn about local women in business.  The meeting will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Luncheon cost is $16.  Reservations are required Friday before the meeting.  Contact: Debbie LaVielle, 209-267-0577 or (preferably) email: debbielavielle@comcast.net .  Join other local business women as they learn, network and promote their businesses.  For more information on ACWN, visitwww.acwnonline.org.

DOWNTOWN WINE EVENT – Fri Sept 27th. Over 15 wineries will pour their award winning wines on Old Highway 49 amidst the construction zone of the new Amador City bridge. Fine cheeses and artisan breads will be provided by Andrae’s bakery to complement Barberas, Zinfandels and a myriad of varieties of wine.  Crystal wine glasses are included. Buffalo Chips Restaurant will offer killer gourmet burgers, servied on Andrae’s Ciabatta. The Imperial Hotel will serve dinner and provide seating. Amador Superior Court RESCHEDULES LAWDA Environmental lawsuit hearing to 10/22/13. Status Update - 9/6/13 - Amador Superior Court reschedules the lawsuit hearing again to Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013, 9:00 am until 4:30pm.The hearing will be held at AMADOR SUPERIOR COURT 500 Argonaut Lane Jackson, CA 95642. GOING GATSBY GALA - The Amador Community College Foundation presents the Going Gatsby Gala on November 16th at 5:30 PM at Gold Country Auto Restoration. Step back in time to the Roaring 20's! Dance to Sister Swing! Gatsby era attire is encouraged. The event features a keynote address by Delaine Eastin, Educational and Public Policy Executive, an elegant seated dinner, and silent and live auctions. RSVP by November 1st. AMADOR TRANSIT: MONDAYS IN PLYMOUTH! Every Monday, Amador Transit will make three bus trips leaving our Sutter Hill Transit Center at 7:40am, 11:00am and 3:10pm. The bus will travel through Sutter Creek, Amador City, Drytown, and from Plymouth, to the River Pines Market, then back the same way to the Sutter Hill Transit Center.
Folks from River Pines and Amador City can now get to Plymouth or, to our Transit Center where they can catch a Shuttle to get just about anywhere in Jackson and Sutter Creek every Monday!

STORY TIMES AT THE AMADOR COUNTY LIBRARY. Amador County Library pre-school story time will resume at the main library in Jackson, Thursday September 12th at 10:30 a.m. Story time runs from September – May and is open to children 0-5 and their caregivers. All story times are 30 minutes and consist of one – three stories, songs and a simple craft. Pre-school story time is also available at the Ione Branch.
