NEW GOLD COUNTRY COMMUNITY TENNIS CLASSES TO BEGIN IN FEBRUARY: Gold Country Community Tennis would like to announce new classes for Saturdays, beginning February 15, 2020 through May 9, 2020 at the Argonaut Tennis Courts. The classes are open to all ages and anyone with a genuine interest in learning the sport of a life time. Attendees should come ready to learn, dressed appropriately with athletic shoes and with their own tennis racket.
Each class is $72 for 5-11 years old and middle school age and up will be $108 for the Spring training season, every Saturday lasting hour to an hour and a half depending on age group. The up-and-coming GCCT is owned and operated by Coach Christian DuCray, a coach with an exceptional background and proven track record in the tennis world. DuCray is Professional Tennis Registry certified, as well as, certified to train all ages. Presently, he is the Head Coach for Argonaut Tennis, Lead Director of Junior Team Tennis and grew up locally playing in Junior Team Tennis.

THE MOTHER LODE DEMOCRATS OF AMADOR will be Tuesday, February 18th at 6:30 PM at the Democratic Headquarters at 557 South Highway 49, Suite 3, Jackson (in the Mother Lode Plaza around the corner from Modern Cuts, look for the American flag).
   Fire is the topic of this month's meeting, as in fire insurance and home insurance.  Our two quest speakers are Jeff Votaw from Farmers Insurance and Anne Lintz from State Farm Insurance.  They will be there to speak on what is happening in the state with regards to homeowner insurance going up or being canceled due to the risk of wildfire and what you can do about.  Bring your questions and concerns. THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS (NAMI Amador) is holding an affiliate meeting and support group on Tuesday, February 25 in the Multi-purpose Conference Room at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.  From 6:45 to 8:00 pm we will conduct confidential Support Groups for family members and individuals living with mental illnesses. HEALTHIER LIVING WORKSHOP: MANAGING CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITIONS. Offered at the Sequoia room in the HHSA building 509 East St Charles Street, San Andreas (Calaveras County) starting Monday Feb 24 from 10 to 12:30.  It is a free 6-week series. 
During the 6 weeks you will learn:

Ways to control pain, stress and anxiety
Goal setting and problem solving
Healthy eating and ways to keep moving
How to effectively communicate with doctors

SIERRA MADRE GARDEN CLUB PRESENTS: FRANK TORTORICH - Author, historian, and Sierra Madre Garden Club member Frank Tortorich will present his cut-up antics with fruits and vegetables when the club meets on Tuesday, February 25th at 1:30pm at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road in Jackson.
   Frank will demonstrate how simple produce can become clever centerpieces for table and decorations. Hear how a visit more than 20 years ago to Winterport Farm in Ione in search of the perfect pumpkin began a fascination with fruit carving. Members and visitors are invited to try their hand at fruit carving. To join the fun, simply bring a small paring knife, a small cutting board, a bunch of radishes, and an apple or two. Or, if that’s not your thing, feel free to bring your camera and just watch.

AMADOR COUNTY CONCERT BAND PRESENTS: “MARCH MUSICAL MADNESS” -  A free concert will be presented by the 45-member Amador County Concert Band under the direction of Steve Chambers on Sunday, March 29 at 3pm. The program will be held at the Community Church of Pine Grove, 14045 Ponderosa Way, Pine Grove.
 Featured music will be a fabulous “Beatles” medley, a salute to “Spike Jones”, a special Gershwin tribute, a medley of John Williams film score music titled “Out of this World”, a selection from ”Evita” and more….
The band has been selected to also perform in the Carmichael Park Band Festival in June this year for a special one-hour concert.
Join us for this wonderful free event. Doors open at 2:30pm so arrive a few minutes early for best seating….ample parking…music begins promptly at 3pm.

AMADOR CHORALIERS: CALLING ALL SINGERS! The Amador Choraliers are looking for new voices, especially men! Rehearsals are each Tuesday, 6:30 pm in the Amador High School Band Room, Sutter Creek. For the Spring 2020 series, rehearsals start on January 21st…but not too late to jump in! They are also looking for another pianist and technical persons (lights/sound).
The Amador Choraliers are unique in that they memorize their music and often add props and a bit of choreography to their performances. Come join them as they keep this 57 year-old tradition alive in Amador County.

Amador Resource Conservation District has a program to provide up to 50% reimbursement for Amador County property owners east of Hwy 49, to help pay for the removal of dead or dying hazard trees on their property that could fall on an inhabited structure.
