SPONSORSHIPS SOUGHT: Victory Village Amador is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to serving veterans. We operate a transitional housing center for homeless Veterans. We assist with housing, education, life skills, physical and mental wellness. We are holding a couple of fundraisers and would like to ask for your assistance.
We are looking for Hole Sponsors and Raffle prizes for our 3rd Annual Golf Tournament which will be on June 1st 2014 at Castle Oaks Golf Course in Ione CA. AMADOR CHILDREN’S THEATER WORKSHOP -  This is a 4-week Theatre Workshop for girls and boys ages 7-12 with lots of energy and creativity.  Last Year’s workshop was a complete success. The workshop will begin with improvisational games, stage direction & stage presence while building confidence through a theatre team.  The team will learn all aspects of theatre production ending with 2 live performances.  Teaching children respect for others, building self-esteem and reinforcing teamwork to achieve a common goal through performance and fun.

AMADOR COUNTY LIBRARY PRESENTS an evening with Historians JoAnn Levy, Carolyn Fregulia and Jim Norris on Thursday, May 22, 2014  5:30 pm, Amador County Library  530 Sutter St. Jackson. Come explore our local history with our distinguished panel of historians. This is a rare opportunity to have all three together.  They will give a little background as to what they have researched, written and discovered, then they will be open for discussion and answering your questions.Jim is a member of the Amador Historical Society.  Along with his wife Lynne, their publishing company published over sixty books and pamphlets  on the history of the Central California Coast. JoAnn is an author of books that focus on the roles women played during the California Gold Rush. Carolyn is an author of books on the Italian Pioneers in gold country, logging in gold country and the Volcano Cemetery and the early history of these people. The Jackson Lions Club announces the finalists in the Rodeo Queen Competition to be held May 24 at Howard Park in Ione:

The horsemanship competition will last from 10 am until noon, and a dinner at Evalyn Bishop Hall at 5 pm will feature the young women's interviews and speeches, with one young woman named the queen and the runners up as her court. FREE YOGA EVENT COMES TO JACKSON - On May 31, local yoga enthusiasts will present a FREE opportunity for all ages to try a gentle yoga session, outdoors in Detert Park.  All levels are welcome, even if you’ve never done yoga before.  No pre-registration is required – check in starting at 9:30am. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water and a mat if you have one. If not, bring a large towel or two. FIRST ANNUAL ROTARY  “SHOW & SHINE” CAR & VINTAGE AIRCRAFT SHOW – Sat May 31 at the Eagle’s Nest Airport in Ione, off of Ione Road. The show expects cars from throughout California and Nevada, and will feature vehicles in all categories from street rods to stock pre-1960, modified, foreign cars and more. Some trucks will also be on display.
Food, beverage and auto accessory vendors will be on site to accommodate all attendees. Amador County is known for its fine wines, and several vintners will be on-site for tasting.  A pancake breakfast will be served by the local Boy Scout Troop 477 from 7:00 to 10:30 AM. All proceeds from this breakfast will be donated to the Troop. For those with a sweet tooth, Boy Scout Troop 581 will be serving sundaes. Other food vendors will include a variety of tasty faire.
All proceeds will go to local youth organizations and the Interfaith Food Bank. General admission for the public will be $5.00 per car. GENTLE YOGA CLASSES - Team Fitness in Pine Grove is proud to announce the start of a Beginning Hatha Yoga Program with classes offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting in early April.

NEW “AMADOR RIDES” VOLUNTEER DRIVER PROGRAM SEEKS VOLUNTEERS - Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer experience that provides a meaningful service to your neighbors in Amador County? Then consider volunteering for the new Amador Rides Volunteer Driver Program. 
The program is designed to help Amador County residents who have no other means of transportation get to healthcare appointments. Amador Rides is a collaborative program of the Social Service Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC), plus other local service providers, with Amador Transit Mobility Management spearheading the program.

AMADOR CHILDREN’S THEATER WORKSHOP -  This is a 4-week Theatre Workshop for girls and boys ages 7-12 with lots of energy and creativity.  Last Year’s workshop was a complete success. The workshop will begin with improvisational games, stage direction & stage presence while building confidence through a theatre team.  The team will learn all aspects of theatre production ending with 2 live performances.  Teaching children respect for others, building self-esteem and reinforcing teamwork to achieve a common goal through performance and fun.

MASTER GARDENERS PRESENTS: CONTROLLING PESTS IN YOUR GARDEN: EVERYTHING FROM INSECTS TO GOPHERS - On Saturday May 17 Amador County Master Gardeners will offer a free public education class on controlling invertebrate (insects) and vertebrate pests (gophers, moles, voles, squirrels, rabbits, etc.) in your garden and landscape. The class will present an overview of the use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in controlling pests. IPM is a process that can be used to manage pest problems while minimizing risk to people and the environment. Attracting good insects to your yard will also be covered. Plants (mostly vegetables) will be on sale from 8:30- 10:30. This class will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Amador County GSA Building, 12200-B Airport Road Jackson/Martell. JoAnn is an author of books that focus on the roles women played during the California Gold Rush. FREE YOGA EVENT COMES TO JACKSON - On May 31, local yoga enthusiasts will present a FREE opportunity for all ages to try a gentle yoga session, outdoors in Detert Park.  All levels are welcome, even if you’ve never done yoga before.  No pre-registration is required – check in starting at 9:30am. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water and a mat if you have one. If not, bring a large towel or two. FIRST ANNUAL ROTARY  “SHOW & SHINE” CAR & VINTAGE AIRCRAFT SHOW – Sat May 31 at the Eagle’s Nest Airport in Ione, off of Ione Road. The show expects cars from throughout California and Nevada, and will feature vehicles in all categories from street rods to stock pre-1960, modified, foreign cars and more. Some trucks will also be on display.
Food, beverage and auto accessory vendors will be on site to accommodate all attendees. Amador County is known for its fine wines, and several vintners will be on-site for tasting.  A pancake breakfast will be served by the local Boy Scout Troop 477 from 7:00 to 10:30 AM. All proceeds from this breakfast will be donated to the Troop. For those with a sweet tooth, Boy Scout Troop 581 will be serving sundaes. Other food vendors will include a variety of tasty faire.
All proceeds will go to local youth organizations and the Interfaith Food Bank. General admission for the public will be $5.00 per car. GENTLE YOGA CLASSES - Team Fitness in Pine Grove is proud to announce the start of a Beginning Hatha Yoga Program with classes offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting in early April.
Classes will run approximately 40 minutes and will probably cost $4 with a purchase of a 10 class pass, ($5 drop-in) or can be included as part of your monthly membership if you come regularly to Team Fitness. We are taking suggestions on times you would like to see these classes offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - please send an email with your interest in the gentle yoga classes and times you are interested in, and we will contact you before the program starts. NEW “AMADOR RIDES” VOLUNTEER DRIVER PROGRAM SEEKS VOLUNTEERS - Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer experience that provides a meaningful service to your neighbors in Amador County? Then consider volunteering for the new Amador Rides Volunteer Driver Program. 
The program is designed to help Amador County residents who have no other means of transportation get to healthcare appointments. Amador Rides is a collaborative program of the Social Service Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC), plus other local service providers, with Amador Transit Mobility Management spearheading the program.
