JOB OPPORTUNITY: First 5 Amador Now Hiring For Summer Kindergarten Bridge Program
The Kindergarten Bridge Program is designed for children who will be starting kindergarten in the fall. Priority enrollment is given to children who have spent little or no time in a preschool setting. The 3-week transition program is designed to introduce incoming students to the structure, rhythm and routine of the kindergarten classroom. It is called a Bridge Program because it aims to help children cross from the pre-kindergarten environment into the kindergarten world.
The program has grown each year and will be serving children this summer at all six school district elementary school sites, including Ione, 
Jackson, Pine Grove, Pioneer, Plymouth and Sutter Creek.
First 5 Amador is seeking teachers, teacher's aides, and interns to serve children at each of these sites.
Dates are: Monday -Thursday, June 16 through July 3, from 
8:00 - 11:30 am. All employees must also attend an Orientation and a Mandated Reporter Training presented by the Amador Child Abuse Prevention Council.
These positions are ideal for current kindergarten or preschool teachers, aides, or students in the early childhood education field. Experience and/or education required.

AMADOR CITY BRIDGE DEDICATION. The folks in Amador City are having a dedication program for their new bridge on Saturday - 12 April at 1pm. Sutter Creek Fire and Amador City will also be developing a fire museum in the old Amador City Fire House; a history display is planned to be a part of the event.

CANDIDATES FORUM SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 16 - The Amador Partnership presents Forum '14 at the Jackson Civic Center April 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Forum '14 is a public service event providing non-partisan political education. This diverse group of stakeholders will ask the candidates for County Supervisor in Districts 3 and 5 various questions relevant to the voters of Amador County. Candidates for County Auditor will be introduced as well.
The event will be broadcast live on radio station KVGC. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
Invited candidates include District 3 incumbent Theodore Novelli and challengers Lynn Morgan and Michael Spence; District 5 incumbent Brian Oneto and challenger Daniel D'Agostini; and County Auditor opponents Kim Burke and Tacy Oneto Rouen (incumbent Joe Lowe is not seeking re-election).

FIDDLER’S JAM - Sutter Creek’s Minnie Provis Park will be the site of a special free Fiddler’s Jam on Thursday, April 17, 2014 during the lunch hour. Bring your lunch, a blanket or lawn chair and join the San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers (SFSF) as they take a break from their 2014 Northern California Tour: FOLLOW THE FIDDLE! directed by Alasdair Fraser. SFSF tour starts on April 10th in Chico and ends on April 19th in Napa. Thursday, April 17th is a personal day between scheduled concerts so part of the SFSF members will be heading by bus to Sutter Creek to sightsee, tour our shops and have lunch in one of our charming restaurants. Since music is center in their lives, what could be more fun than to “jam” for the locals of all ages and what better setting than the park on a spring afternoon.

FIRST ANNUAL ROTARY  “SHOW & SHINE” CAR & VINTAGE AIRCRAFT SHOW – Sat May 31 at the Eagle’s Nest Airport in Ione, off of Ione Road. The show expects cars from throughout California and Nevada, and will feature vehicles in all categories from street rods to stock pre-1960, modified, foreign cars and more. Some trucks will also be on display.
Food, beverage and auto accessory vendors will be on site to accommodate all attendees. Amador County is known for its fine wines, and several vintners will be on-site for tasting.  A pancake breakfast will be served by the local Boy Scout Troop 477 from 7:00 to 10:30 AM. All proceeds from this breakfast will be donated to the Troop. For those with a sweet tooth, Boy Scout Troop 581 will be serving sundaes. Other food vendors will include a variety of tasty faire.

The Kindergarten Bridge Program is designed for children who will be starting kindergarten in the fall. Priority enrollment is given to children who have spent little or no time in a preschool setting. The 3-week transition program is designed to introduce incoming students to the structure, rhythm and routine of the kindergarten classroom. It is called a Bridge Program because it aims to help children cross from the pre-kindergarten environment into the kindergarten world.
The program has grown each year and will be serving children this summer at all six school district elementary school sites, including Ione,
Jackson, Pine Grove, Pioneer, Plymouth and Sutter Creek.
First 5 Amador is seeking teachers, teacher's aides, and interns to serve children at each of these sites.
Dates are: Monday -Thursday, June 16 through July 3, from 
8:00 - 11:30 am. All employees must also attend an Orientation and a Mandated Reporter Training presented by the Amador Child Abuse Prevention Council.

CANDIDATES FORUM SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 16 - The Amador Partnership presents Forum '14 at the Jackson Civic Center April 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Forum '14 is a public service event providing non-partisan political education. This diverse group of stakeholders will ask the candidates for County Supervisor in Districts 3 and 5 various questions relevant to the voters of Amador County. Candidates for County Auditor will be introduced as well.
The event will be broadcast live on radio station KVGC. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.

COMMUNITY PASSOVER DINNER & SEDER - The Mother Lode Jewish Community (MLJC) will be holding this year’s annual Passover Dinner and Seder in Murphys on Saturday, April 19th.  Passover, which celebrates freedom from slavery in ancient Egypt, is one of the most important holidays in the Jewish religion. FIRST ANNUAL ROTARY  “SHOW & SHINE” CAR & VINTAGE AIRCRAFT SHOW – Sat May 31 at the Eagle’s Nest Airport in Ione, off of Ione Road. The show expects cars from throughout California and Nevada, and will feature vehicles in all categories from street rods to stock pre-1960, modified, foreign cars and more. Some trucks will also be on display.
Food, beverage and auto accessory vendors will be on site to accommodate all attendees. Amador County is known for its fine wines, and several vintners will be on-site for tasting.  A pancake breakfast will be served by the local Boy Scout Troop 477 from 7:00 to 10:30 AM. All proceeds from this breakfast will be donated to the Troop. For those with a sweet tooth, Boy Scout Troop 581 will be serving sundaes. Other food vendors will include a variety of tasty faire.
All proceeds will go to local youth organizations and the Interfaith Food Bank. General admission for the public will be $5.00 per car. GENTLE YOGA CLASSES - Team Fitness in Pine Grove is proud to announce the start of a Beginning Hatha Yoga Program with classes offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting in early April.
Classes will run approximately 40 minutes and will probably cost $4 with a purchase of a 10 class pass, ($5 drop-in) or can be included as part of your monthly membership if you come regularly to Team Fitness. SPRING JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS - Registration is now open for Spring Junior team tennis. Boys & Girls Ages 7-14 play on co-ed teams in three ability levels: beginning, intermediate and advanced. No experience is necessary, beginners are welcome! League matches will run six consecutive Saturdays from April 12 to May 17 and each team will have one practice per week starting in late March. Cost is $65 first child, $40 second child, $5 third child (max of $110 per household). Early bird special: take $10 off your total if registration is postmarked by Feb. 15. Fee includes junior USTA membership, t-shirt, season-end party, and awards.
