“CATCH IT ON THE FLY” FLY FISHING TOURNAMENT: The Amador Fly Fishers Club is holding a fly fishing tournament on Saturday, August 6. The event will be held on the East Carson River in Alpine County. The California Department of Fish & Wildlife has generously agreed to supply us with a planting of Rainbow trout. Fly fishers will be paying an entry fee of $75 dollars each to compete for prizes for those catching the most fish. All fishing is done with barbless hooks and all fish are to be released immediately. “Catch & Release.”
All proceeds are to go to Amador Fly Fishers starting a Youth Fly Fishing Club for students of high school age and for the restoration of trees for the Butte Fire.
There will be a maximum of 10 participants receiving prizes valued at a total of over $2500 dollars for their placement in the tournament. We want to make those prizes worth their effort and time on the water.
Participants will also be supplied a lunch after the tournament as well as given a “Commerative” T-shirt. At that time the top fly fishers will be announced and prizes distributed.
We hope to attract fly fishers from the various fly fishing clubs in the surrounding counties and hopefully expose them to what the Foothills and Sierra Nevada Mountain areas have to offer.
Included Entry Form and a check for $75 dollars can be mailed to: Amador Fly Fishers, P.O. Box 1798, Jackson, CA 95642 or you can log onto our website at www.amadorflyfishers.org and fill out the Entry Form and pay by using a credit card.

NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE AMADOR COUNTY PROPOSED FINAL GENERAL PLAN - PUBLIC HEARING: TUESDAY JULY 19
----
FYI: On Recycling in Amador County (Via Lynn Morgan):
>Pine Grove Market should be re-opening soon, maybe as soon as June 1st.
>Pokerville Market was denied a request for exemption by CalRecycle and will receive their final notice in mid-June.  By late June they will either: have a new buyback center, pay customer CRV in the store or pay a penalty to the state.
>Pioneer Payless Market will receive their final notice in mid-August and by late August will either: have a new buyback center, pay customer CRV in the store or pay a penalty to the state.
>Ione Plaza Market has been determined by CalRecycle to not meet the threshold which would require them to have a recycle center.
>Raley's Market has been considered by CalRecycle to be served by the Academy Dr. center and is not required to have a recycle center.
Also, the county may initiate a lawn mower and a wood stove by-back program with the intent of helping to reduce our carbon footprint.  I will keep you posted.  The pine needle bin program is up and running. Best - Lynn

FROM THE CITY OF IONE: The City of Ione needs your help to prevent vandalism and apprehend individuals who vandalize our parks and recreational facilities. Please call City Hall at 209-274-2412 or Sheriff Dispatch (after hours) at 209-223-6513 to report vandalism to your park facilities. Why is it important to stop vandalism? If you think vandalism isn't your problem, think again. Here are a few reasons why vandalism hurts everyone.Vandalism destroys what your tax dollars have created. Each year vandals destroy thousands of dollars' worth of park facilities and equipment funded by tax dollars. A few minutes of destructive "fun" can add up to huge losses for our City's parks. Vandalism is a problem at all parks throughout Ione costing the city thousands of dollars per year. Vandalism takes dollars away from recreational programs and facilities. It costs money to repair or replace whatever a vandal's actions have destroyed. For example, the cost of removing writing from the Skat Park can easily reach $1000 for sandblasting costs. Replacing a destroyed bench involves high labor repair and materials costs.
Here's what you can do to help prevent and address vandalism.
Always call 9-1-1 to report any crime in progress, including vandalism.
If you have information about a crime that has occurred in a park, but that does not require an immediate police response, please call 209-274-2412.
Thank you for helping!

GREEN WASTE DUMPSTER AT LOCKWOOD FIRE STATION: To assist the upcountry residents with keeping a defensible space around their homes, Amador Fire Safe Council working together with Farmers Insurance obtained a grant to provide a green waste dumpster at Lockwood Fire Station #151.
This is the second year this program has been available to those in the Lockwood Fire District area. Anyone can use the dumpster as long as it is only vegetation - pine needles, leaves and branches less than 2 inches in diameter. Due to the discovery of electronic waste in the dumpster, video cameras are now monitoring the dumpster and fire station area.
The dumpster is located at 23141 Shake Ridge Road, approximately 3 miles above Daffodil Hill. If you use the dumpster, please clean up after use and insure all vegetation is inside the dumpster. No plastic bags are allowed in the dumpster. We encourage everyone to use this free service to help keep your home safe.
For more information, contact Jackie Vaughn, Communications, Lockwood Fire Protection District, 209-296-5122.
