WELL-MANNERED DOG FOR THE NEW YEAR! Would you appreciate a dog who sat at the front door and greeted your friends, or maybe a dog who walked by your side with a slack leash and followed your commands? Or perhaps a dog who SAT and waited at mealtime or went in and out of doors with great self-control.
Pre-purchase 2 private lessons in Pine Grove before the end of January and get a third lesson FREE!! There's no expiration date on when you need to use the 3 lessons.
Contact me by email trainer@dog-b-good.com or phone 209-304-5139.
Once you've contacted me and we've determined that I can be of help to you, you can mail your $99 payment to Our Furry Friends, P.O Box 97, Pine Grove 95665. If you'd rather have in-home lessons instead of coming to Pine Grove, I'll let you know what it would add on to the $99 depending on where you live.
Thank you so much and Happy New Year!

VIA US FIRE ADMINISTRATION: Great information to share with your community as we begin a new year.
If you’re like many Americans, you’re starting off the New Year with a resolution to improve your health. As you work towards your resolution, consider one additional step to maintain your health: fire prevention. The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) is urging everyone to make 2016 a healthy and fire-safe year.
Most people say they feel safest at home. But data shows 83% of all fire deaths in the U.S. happen in homes.
Follow these tips to ring in fire safety this New Year:
• Make sure your home is protected by working smoke alarms. Half of all home fire deaths happen at night, when people are sleeping.
• Test your smoke alarms once a month, and replace your smoke alarms when they're 10 years old.
• Cooking is the main cause of home fires and home fire injuries. Make safety your first ingredient; stay in the kitchen when you are cooking at high temperatures. Fires start when the heat gets too high. If you see any smoke or grease starts to boil, turn the burner off.
• If you have children living in your home or visiting look for fire and burn dangers from their point of view. Never leave lighters or matches where children can reach them.
For additional fire safety information, visit USFA. Follow USFA on social media @usfire and on Facebook.

MINER’S BEND COMMEMORATIVE BRICK PATHWAY - PERSONALIZED BRICKS AVAILABLE -The Sutter Creek Community Benefit Foundation invites you to participate in Sutter Creek’s new Miners’ Bend Historic Gold Mining Park by buying a personalized  engraved brick in the Commemorative Pathway. You and your family will not only provide financial support to the Foundation and help finish this park, but you will cement your place in Amador County’s gold mining history forever.
The work at Miners' Bend Park at the South end of Sutter Creek continues. By now you have probably noticed all the mining artifacts that have been placed at the South end of Main Street.  Sutter Creek Community Benefit Foundation has been working hard to make this historical project a reality and now are building a brick walkway that you can be a part of.
The SCCBF’s goal for completion of this park is early next summer, 2016. The Park will feature over a dozen displays telling the story of Amador's roll in the California Gold Rush. Work is being done on interpretive signage that will give visitors a brief history of the gold rush in Sutter Creek and Amador County, with historic photos and descriptions of each artifact on display.
The SCCBF would like to thank all those who have donated time and money to help make this project a reality. The Donor Brick Campaign will help them complete the park. Purchasing a brick is the perfect way to commemorate loved ones, promote your business or organization, honor a special occasion, or find that special gift. Personalized Bricks start at only $100.

Remember, your brick purchase is tax deductible. Buying a personalized brick helps the Sutter Creek Community Benefit Foundation preserve our cultural heritage in Amador County. To order, visit www.sccbf.org . For more information please call Frank Cunha at 209-304-9192.

BUTTE FIRE POSTERS AVAILABLE: I don't know if everyone here knows about this, but I had two Butte Fire fundraising posters printed up. One poster is photos of the fire truck engine insignias...just a fraction of the fire crews who came, from all over, to help fight the fire. The second poster is a collection of photos that shows all the thanks, gratitude and and signs of appreciation that our community expressed toward all who helped. The goal was to raise enough money to help out the volunteer firefighters who lost their homes in the Mountain Ranch area, and if there were enough sales, to help out anyone else who needed it. The posters sell for $20, are 18"x24" and are suitable for framing. They are available at the following locations: Both Twisted Oak Winery tasting rooms, Creative Cookware (Murphys), SNAC (Murphys), Victoria's Frame Shop (Angels), Calaveras Visitor's Center (Angels), and online at https://www.twistedoak.com/butte
We had 200 of each poster made. When these are gone, there won't be another printing, so now is the time to get one. They will make great gifts, and it's a great way to donate! Please help spread the word. Thanks!

DOCENTS NEEDED for Monteverde Museum. Presently, the museum is only opened two days out of each month.  When the museum is opened we usually have 20 plus visitors a day.  Local folks, visitors, in state and out of state are always happy to be able to go inside the store and experience the feeling of days gone by. Many will say it is like stepping back in time. Many will also say, they have been through Sutter Creek before and to their dismay the store has been closed.
It would be beneficial for Sutter Creek if the museum would be opened more often. Unfortunately, we have a shortage of docents.  Presently, we have only 4 active docents to open the museum. We really need people to volunteer to just have the doors open to the public. If you know of anyone who has free time to do possibly one day a month, or even a few hours one day a month, please let us know.
Still reaching out for other ideas to encourage folks to volunteer time. If you have any ideas please forward to me at rkf48@aol.com

DO YOU HAVE STACKS OF NEWSPAPERS laying around your house, waiting to be recycled? Then please bring them on down to the Busi Parking lot in Jackson behind Mel's. The Boy Scout Troops of Amador County are collecting your newspaper donations and accept on an on-going basis. The large cargo container sits at the very back of the parking lot. There should be pallets next to the dumpster, where everyone can leave their stacks. Anyone can drop off their newspapers 7 days a week, day or night. We ask that you only donate actual newspapers, no glossy advertising, magazines or books. All proceeds directly benefit the various Troops in Amador County. It's a Win-Win for everyone, Scouts, you and the environment! For more information, contact Jenny Fritz at artsychickenfarm@gmail.com
