AMADOR DEMOCRATS PRESENT: “INSIDE JOB” - The Amador Democrats will proudly present the Academy Award winning movie, Inside Job. This was the first film to expose the shocking truth behind the economic crisis of 2008.  The global financial meltdown, at a cost of over $20 trillion, resulting in millions of people losing their homes and jobs.

CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT - The Mother Lode Friends of Music is presenting a concert of classical chamber music on Sunday, April 6, starting at 2 pm in the Church of the Nazarene, 14050 Ridge Road, in Sutter Creek.  There is no admission charge.
The program features three works for winds of 20th-century French composers:  the Trio d’Anches of Pierre Max Dubois, the Vent de Folie of Didier Favre, and the Quintette en Ut of Claude Arrieu.  The performers are Janet Telford, flute, Jane Buzzard, oboe, Hank King, clarinet, Bill Minkel, horn, and Gail Buzzard, bassoon.
Soprano Marie Bedard sings two arias, The Letter Song and The Willow Song, from The Ballad of Baby Doe of Douglas Moore.
Concluding the program is the Piano Trio No. 1 of the young American composer Patrick Zimmerli, a work that Fanfaremagazine has called “sensational—a wholly satisfying musical experience.”  The performers are violinist Corina Stoian, cellist Erik Urbina and pianist Ron Brickman.

AMADOR CITY BRIDGE DEDICATION. The folks in Amador City are having a dedication program for their new bridge on Saturday - 12 April at 1pm. Sutter Creek Fire and Amador City will also be developing a fire museum in the old Amador City Fire House; a history display is planned to be a part of the event.

FUNDRAISER DINNER FOR ZEKE REILING – Students from Jackson Elementary and SutterCreek Elementary schools are putting on a fundraiser dinner for Ezekiel Reiling, the Argonaut student that was badly burned in a house fire, on Sunday, April 13 from 4-7 PM at the American Legion Hall in Sutter Hill. CANDIDATES FORUM SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 16 - The Amador Partnership presents Forum '14 at the Jackson Civic Center April 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Forum '14 is a public service event providing non-partisan political education. This diverse group of stakeholders will ask the candidates for County Supervisor in Districts 3 and 5 various questions relevant to the voters of Amador County. Candidates for County Auditor will be introduced as well.
The event will be broadcast live on radio station KVGC. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
Invited candidates include District 3 incumbent Theodore Novelli and challengers Lynn Morgan and Michael Spence; District 5 incumbent Brian Oneto and challenger Daniel D'Agostini; and County Auditor opponents Kim Burke and Tacy Oneto Rouen (incumbent Joe Lowe is not seeking re-election).

FIRST ANNUAL ROTARY  “SHOW & SHINE” CAR & VINTAGE AIRCRAFT SHOW – Sat May 31 at the Eagle’s Nest Airport in Ione, off of Ione Road. The show expects cars from throughout California and Nevada, and will feature vehicles in all categories from street rods to stock pre-1960, modified, foreign cars and more. Some trucks will also be on display.
Food, beverage and auto accessory vendors will be on site to accommodate all attendees. Amador County is known for its fine wines, and several vintners will be on-site for tasting.  A pancake breakfast will be served by the local Boy Scout Troop 477 from 7:00 to 10:30 AM. All proceeds from this breakfast will be donated to the Troop. For those with a sweet tooth, Boy Scout Troop 581 will be serving sundaes. Other food vendors will include a variety of tasty faire.
All proceeds will go to local youth organizations and the Interfaith Food Bank. General admission for the public will be $5.00 per car. Sutter Creek Fire and Amador City will also be developing a fire museum in the old Amador City Fire House (pictured below); a history display is planned to be a part of the event.

CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT - The Mother Lode Friends of Music is presenting a concert of classical chamber music on Sunday, April 6, starting at 2 pm in the Church of the Nazarene, 14050 Ridge Road, in Sutter Creek.  There is no admission charge.
The program features three works for winds of 20th-century French composers:  the Trio d’Anches of Pierre Max Dubois, the Vent de Folie of Didier Favre, and the Quintette en Ut of Claude Arrieu.  The performers are Janet Telford, flute, Jane Buzzard, oboe, Hank King, clarinet, Bill Minkel, horn, and Gail Buzzard, bassoon.
Soprano Marie Bedard sings two arias, The Letter Song and The Willow Song, from The Ballad of Baby Doe of Douglas Moore.
Concluding the program is the Piano Trio No. 1 of the young American composer Patrick Zimmerli, a work that Fanfaremagazine has called “sensational—a wholly satisfying musical experience.”  The performers are violinist Corina Stoian, cellist Erik Urbina and pianist Ron Brickman.

CANDIDATES FORUM SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 16 - The Amador Partnership presents Forum '14 at the Jackson Civic Center April 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Forum '14 is a public service event providing non-partisan political education. This diverse group of stakeholders will ask the candidates for County Supervisor in Districts 3 and 5 various questions relevant to the voters of Amador County. Candidates for County Auditor will be introduced as well.
The event will be broadcast live on radio station KVGC. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
Invited candidates include District 3 incumbent Theodore Novelli and challengers Lynn Morgan and Michael Spence; District 5 incumbent Brian Oneto and challenger Daniel D'Agostini; and County Auditor opponents Kim Burke and Tacy Oneto Rouen (incumbent Joe Lowe is not seeking re-election).

41st ANNUAL AAUW HOME TOUR: “JEWELS OF THE MOTHER LODE” – Historic Sutter Creek  on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 11am to 4pm. Featuring four homes and one inn. FIRST ANNUAL ROTARY  “SHOW & SHINE” CAR & VINTAGE AIRCRAFT SHOW – Sat May 31 at the Eagle’s Nest Airport in Ione, off of Ione Road. The show expects cars from throughout California and Nevada, and will feature vehicles in all categories from street rods to stock pre-1960, modified, foreign cars and more. Some trucks will also be on display.
Food, beverage and auto accessory vendors will be on site to accommodate all attendees. Amador County is known for its fine wines, and several vintners will be on-site for tasting.  A pancake breakfast will be served by the local Boy Scout Troop 477 from 7:00 to 10:30 AM. All proceeds from this breakfast will be donated to the Troop. For those with a sweet tooth, Boy Scout Troop 581 will be serving sundaes. Other food vendors will include a variety of tasty faire.
All proceeds will go to local youth organizations and the Interfaith Food Bank. General admission for the public will be $5.00 per car. GENTLE YOGA CLASSES - Team Fitness in Pine Grove is proud to announce the start of a Beginning Hatha Yoga Program with classes offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting in early April.
Classes will run approximately 40 minutes and will probably cost $4 with a purchase of a 10 class pass, ($5 drop-in) or can be included as part of your monthly membership if you come regularly to Team Fitness. SPRING JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS - Registration is now open for Spring Junior team tennis. Boys & Girls Ages 7-14 play on co-ed teams in three ability levels: beginning, intermediate and advanced. No experience is necessary, beginners are welcome! League matches will run six consecutive Saturdays from April 12 to May 17 and each team will have one practice per week starting in late March. Cost is $65 first child, $40 second child, $5 third child (max of $110 per household). Early bird special: take $10 off your total if registration is postmarked by Feb. 15. Fee includes junior USTA membership, t-shirt, season-end party, and awards.
