NAMI RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUP - Dear NAMI Members and Friends — NAMI Amador is happy to announce that our Connection Recovery Support Group will begin again on Tuesday, January 7 from 2-3:30PM  at Sierra Wind Wellness and Recovery Center.  We are grateful to so many people for making this happen!  Our thank yous to Angela Geddis, Program Manager at Sierra Wind for making it possible to hold the support group at Sierra Wind.  Our deep appreciation to NAMI Amador Board member Janet Caton, who will be the Connection coordinator to support our facilitators, and to Pat Houghton, who will provide on-going training and support also to our facilitators.  We now have a really strong team of people to provide support!
Most of all, our appreciation and congratulations to our Connection facilitators Teresa Painter, and newly-trained facilitators Jane Napper from Calaveras County, and Tina Waklee from Amador.  Jane is already co-facilitating the Connection group in Calaveras and she and Tina will start our group up Tuesday, January 7 at Sierra Wind.

SEAN RABE FAREWELL RECEPTION – Thurs Jan 9 from 4-6PM After years of loyal and dedicated service to Amador County and the City of Sutter Creek, Sean Rabe,  Sutter Creek City Manager, will be departing to accept the position of City Manager for the City of Colma.   We will be holding a farewell reception for Sean in The Cellar at the Hotel Sutter. Community members are invited to join the Sutter Creek City Council and staff, to wish Sean a fond good-bye.

BUILDING LITERACY THROUGH STORYTELLING & CHILDREN’S BOOKS – Thurs Jan 16 from  6:00 – 8:00 pm. Join us for a fun evening where you will gain more of an understanding of language and literacy, and will learn ways to foster language and literacy in your programs, through storytelling and children’s books! You will be introduced to Dialogic Reading, and will gain an understanding of the importance of: intentionality, engaging and meaningful relationships, and experiences in language and literacy. INTRODUCTION TO ASTRONOMY: Folsom Lake College will be offering an Introduction to Astronomy class in the Spring Semester from January 18 until May 21, 2014. This class is in a  Interactive Television (ITV) format which means the instructor and students will interact and view each other on a real-time basis. Class sessions are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:20 pm (two sessions per week). This is class is worth 3 semester credits and is taught by Bob Laurent. The class will be given at the Amador County Transit Center in Sutter Hill - 117 Valley View Way, Sutter Creek, CA 95685. This center is at the intersection of Valley View Way and Bowers Ave. For enrollment information please call 209 223-6393.

DEVELOPING & OPERATING A SMALL SCALE COMMERCIAL KITCHEN –Join Farms of Amador on Saturday, January 11th from 5:30 to 8 pm for a potluck gathering at the Amador City Community Hall to learn about developing and operating a small scale commercial kitchen.  Professional caterers Lucy Spangler Gore and Bill Gore will share their experience in building and operating a small scale commercial kitchen in Amador Co.  Farms of Amador is excited to present this topic, the development of which will allow farmers to process their products in order to add value and increase customer appeal.  This will also be an opportunity to network with the region's food producers, chefs and consumers interested in quality regional foods.  Cost of the event is $10 for those who bring a pot-luck dish to share and $15 for those who come without a dish.  Please bring your own place setting in an effort to reduce waste.

What: A potluck gathering and presentation on developing and operating a small scale commercial kitchen

LADIES CAR CARE CLINIC & BRUNCH – Sat Jan 18 at 10AM at Calvary Chapel in Pine Grove. This is a great time to grab your girlfriends and join our One-Of-A-Kind event! You will learn about cars and what you CAN do to keep your car or truck running dependably. Admission to event is FREE*

NAMI RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUP - Dear NAMI Members and Friends — NAMI Amador is happy to announce that our Connection Recovery Support Group will begin again on Tuesday, January 7 from 2-3:30PM  at Sierra Wind Wellness and Recovery Center.  We are grateful to so many people for making this happen!  Our thank yous to Angela Geddis, Program Manager at Sierra Wind for making it possible to hold the support group at Sierra Wind.  Our deep appreciation to NAMI Amador Board member Janet Caton, who will be the Connection coordinator to support our facilitators, and to Pat Houghton, who will provide on-going training and support also to our facilitators.  We now have a really strong team of people to provide support!
Most of all, our appreciation and congratulations to our Connection facilitators Teresa Painter, and newly-trained facilitators Jane Napper from Calaveras County, and Tina Waklee from Amador.  Jane is already co-facilitating the Connection group in Calaveras and she and Tina will start our group up Tuesday, January 7 at Sierra Wind.

This is class is worth 3 semester credits and is taught by Bob Laurent. The class will be given at the Amador County Transit Center in Sutter Hill - 117 Valley View Way, Sutter Creek, CA 95685. DEVELOPING & OPERATING A SMALL SCALE COMMERCIAL KITCHEN –Join Farms of Amador on Saturday, January 11th from 5:30 to 8 pm for a potluck gathering at the Amador City Community Hall to learn about developing and operating a small scale commercial kitchen.  Professional caterers Lucy Spangler Gore and Bill Gore will share their experience in building and operating a small scale commercial kitchen in Amador Co.  Farms of Amador is excited to present this topic, the development of which will allow farmers to process their products in order to add value and increase customer appeal.  This will also be an opportunity to network with the region's food producers, chefs and consumers interested in quality regional foods.  Cost of the event is $10 for those who bring a pot-luck dish to share and $15 for those who come without a dish.  Please bring your own place setting in an effort to reduce waste.

DEVELOPING & OPERATING A SMALL SCALE COMMERCIAL KITCHEN –Join Farms of Amador on Saturday, January 11th from 5:30 to 8 pm for a potluck gathering at the Amador City Community Hall to learn about developing and operating a small scale commercial kitchen.  Professional caterers Lucy Spangler Gore and Bill Gore will share their experience in building and operating a small scale commercial kitchen in Amador Co.  Farms of Amador is excited to present this topic, the development of which will allow farmers to process their products in order to add value and increase customer appeal.  This will also be an opportunity to network with the region's food producers, chefs and consumers interested in quality regional foods.  Cost of the event is $10 for those who bring a pot-luck dish to share and $15 for those who come without a dish.  Please bring your own place setting in an effort to reduce waste.

ACRA’S 3RD ANNUAL SPAGHETTI FEED – Fri Jan 24. Doors open at 5:30. Dinner served at 6:30. Raffle at 7PM. Authentic Amador-Italian meaty red sauce, or delicious pesto. Salad, garlic bread, coffee. Desserts by Kathy Simmons! Wine, beer, soda, bottled water. No host beverages. Raffle prizes, door prizes. $15 each, $20 at the door. $25 per couple, in advance. Tickets can be purchased over the phone by credit card, or come into the ACRA office, 223-6349. Proceeds benefit ACRA and the Amador County Cemetery Board.

CHINA PAINTING WITH MARGARET ANWAY – Margaret Anway has decades of experience painting, as well as teaching china and glass painting. She has been published in “The China Decorator” magazine, and is happy teaching beginning artists as well as professional, and is flexible to your needs.
Classes are Tues mornings, 9-12 noon at Margaret Anway’s home, 26601 High Tree Ave, Pioneer. $7 per class. Call 295-8836 to schedule your first class or if you have any questions regarding the class.

INTRODUCTION TO ASTRONOMY: Folsom Lake College will be offering an Introduction to Astronomy class in the Spring Semester from January 18 until May 21, 2014. This class is in a  Interactive Television (ITV) format which means the instructor and students will interact and view each other on a real-time basis. Class sessions are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:20 pm (two sessions per week). This is class is worth 3 semester credits and is taught by Bob Laurent. The class will be given at the Amador County Transit Center in Sutter Hill - 117 Valley View Way, Sutter Creek, CA 95685. LADIES CAR CARE CLINIC & BRUNCH – Sat Jan 18 at 10AM at Calvary Chapel in Pine Grove. This is a great time to grab your girlfriends and join our One-Of-A-Kind event! You will learn about cars and what you CAN do to keep your car or truck running dependably. Admission to event is FREE*
We will Learn How to:
- Identify warning lights on the dash
- Check your engine oil and other fluids
- Check and adjust tire pressure
- Change a flat tire.
Plus much more! Our volunteer mechanics will also make time to show you around your own vehicle and answer any specific questions you may have. So if you’ve always wanted to know what makes your vehicle tick, this is the event for you! This is also a great opportunity for young ladies just starting to drive to learn as well, so if you have daughters – reserve a spot for them too.
The Car Care Clinic is FREE; however, we encourage everyone to bring a mealtime item for the potluck brunch (a girl’s got to eat!!).
