AAUW AMADOR CELEBRATES 50 YEARS: The Amador County Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is celebrating our first 50 years of service to our community. AAUW is inviting all current, former and prospective members to join them on Sunday, September 29, from 2 to 4 pm, at the Community Building on Church Street in Sutter Creek to commemorate the occasion.
A quote from a news article published in 1969 when the branch was first organized is still appropriate: “The organization’s main interests are practical educational work and contributions its members can make to society.” Indeed, our branch can be proud of its past accomplishments and strives towards new goals in the future. We are assembling a photo video showing highlights of the first 50 years. Most notable is our annual Home Tour that allows us to fund local college scholarships, fellowships, Tech Trek camperships, and provide other educational programs for the community. Hopefully, some of our scholarship recipients will attend to update us on their educational and career journey.
Questions regarding the celebration may be directed to Sandi Baracco at 209-267-0254 or BaraccoArchitect@comcast.net. For more information about AAUW see: amador-ca.aauw.net
