MOTHER LODE RAGTIME SOCIETY - The next meeting of the Mother Lode Ragtime Society will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30-ish p.m. at the Sutter Creek Ice Cream Emporium. Julia Riley will be on hand to provide lots of good music. We're hoping other musicians will show up as well! As always, all are welcome to play.

AAUW HOME TOUR 2018: “JACKSON: TOUR THROUGH TIME - The 46th Annual AAUW Home Tour will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, 11 AM to 4 PM, featuring five homes representing periods from the 1890’s to the 1950’s and five historical sites, one never before open to the public. AMADOR COUNTY ARTISTS ASSOCIATION: ACRYLIC POURING DEMONSTRATION - Donna Bohlin Sammons of BohlinArt Gallery & Studio in Sutter Creek will present a tutorial on the latest trend in acrylic painting, acrylic pouring. Supplies and methods will be demonstrated to show off this art forward abstract art form at the ACAA monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 14 at 7pm at the Amador Senior Center in Jackson. FIRST 5 AMADOR NOW HIRING FOR SUMMER KINDERGARTEN BRIDGE PROGRAM - The Summer Kindergarten Bridge Program is designed for children who will be starting kindergarten in the Fall. Priority enrollment is given to children who have spent little or no time in a preschool setting. The 3-week transition program is designed to introduce incoming students to the structure, rhythm and routine of the kindergarten classroom. It is called a Bridge Program because it aims to help children cross from the pre-kindergarten environment into the kindergarten world.
The program has grown each year and will be serving children this Summer at all six school district elementary school sites, including Ione, Jackson, Pine Grove, Pioneer, Plymouth and Sutter Creek.

DINNER WITH JUDGE DAY - Have dinner with Judge Renee Day on Friday, March 9 at 5:30 p.m. With community-wide support, Assistant Presiding Judge Renee Day has announced her candidacy to retain her seat on the Amador Superior Court. She looks forward to continuing to serve the local community in family, civil and criminal court cases, which she has presided over since 2015. Please show your support for Judge Day by attending a plated dinner fundraiser at the Highway House Banquet Room in Jackson, and learn more about her campaign to retain her seat in the Amador Superior Court.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a no-host bar and passed appetizers, followed by a plated dinner at 6:30 p.m. Judge Hermanson will start the evening by introducing Judge Day, who will then discuss her campaign. A dessert auction will follow.
Dinner is hosted by Friends of the Committee to Elect Judge Day. All proceeds go to the Committee to Elect Judge Day.

KNIGHT FOUNDRY PLAQUES DEDICATION PROGRAM - Sat Mar 10 at 11am. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) will be rededicating their Mechanical Engineering Historical Landmark plaque that was first placed at the Foundry site in 1994.
The Native Sons of the Golden West (NSGW) will be dedicating the new plaque honoring all of the Native Sons who have passed through Knight Foundry, and to commemorate the NSGW support for the preservation of the site.
The public is invited. Tours of the site will be also be available at 10am, 12noon and 2pm.

- First 5 Amador is seeking teachers, and teacher’s aides, to serve children at each of these sites.
- Dates and times are: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 - 11:30 am, from June 11 through June 28. All hires must also attend an Orientation and complete a Mandated Reporter Training.
These positions are ideal for current kindergarten, transitional-kindergarten, or preschool teachers, aides, or students in the Early Childhood Education field. Education and/or experience required.

MASTER GARDENERS PRESENT: PLANNING YOUR SPRING AND SUMMER GARDENS – Sat Mar 17. Join the UCCE Master Gardeners of Amador County for a free Public Education class on seasonal garden planning. Master Gardeners will discuss planting times and methods as well as the selection, care and maintenance of local vegetables and annual flowers which can be grown in the spring and summer. Handouts will include a planting guide for variou elevations and local micro-climates.

DO YOU STRUGGLE to live a fulfilling life while living with a mental illness? Have you been told that you have schizophrenia or bipolar disorder or depression, PTSD or anxiety? Perhaps you have a spouse or partner who lives with mental illness; perhaps you have a grown child or grandchild who lives on the streets due to their mental illness.
We are your neighbors and we can help. We are NAMI Amador, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and we are offering two free classes this Spring just for you.
- PEER TO PEER is a five week class offering skills, strategies and support for people living with mental illness. You will gain the knowledge to live well in recovery with your diagnosis and the plans you make.
This class will run every Saturday March 31 through April 28 from 10:00-2:00.

- FAMILY TO FAMILY gives the information you need if you are a family member, close friend or caretaker of someone living with mental illness. You’ll be able to live with more comfort and less stress.

AMADOR COUNTY CONCERT BAND PRESENTS "MARCH MUSICAL MADNESS" - A free concert will be presented by the 45-member Amador County Concert Band under the direction of Steve Chambers on Sunday, March 25th at 3pm. The program will be held at the Community Church of Pine Grove, 14045 Ponderosa Way, Pine Grove. Doors open at 2:30pm.
Featured music will be a medley from “The Music Man”, by Meredith Wilson and arranged for concert band by Phillip Lang, “Yakety Sax” by Boots Randolph featuring the entire saxophone section of the band, “A Little Tango Music“ by Adam Gorb, a selection of tunes of the 1920’s in a medley by William Barker called “Tin Pan Alley”, a medley of movie hits by Hans Zimmer, “That Old Hound Dog Rag”, conducted by John Lillie, and more!

2018 JACKSON CAR SHOW VENDORS: It is that time of year again for the Jackson Car show.
This year's show is Saturday May 19th. and, like years past, located on Historic Main St Jackson.
We anticipate a sold out show this year bringing 175 beautiful cars to our town.
A 10x10 booth will be provided without charge however you are required to donate an item of your business to our raffle.
Please provide:

2. Type of product, and if you need electricity
Set up starts at 7am and needs to be finished by 9am. Show starts at 10am. Vendors will be located at the L&M parking lot and the Fire Department. We are limited to 20 spots, so sign up early. No alcohol allowed.

Mostly they just want information on what to do while they are in our area and we have lots of brochures for them to choose from.

Break Bread with Friends is an outreach program supported by the parishes of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Jackson United Methodist Church, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Jackson. Each Saturday morning, parishioners from the 3 churches, along with occasional volunteers from other Christian churches, meet at the Methodist Church fellowship hall. There, they prepare and serve a free breakfast and a bag lunch "to go" to all who come. Guests are warmly and cheerfully welcomed and treated with respect. Volunteers enjoy working together ecumenically, being Christ's hands assisting people in need.

COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES SEEKS VOLUNTEERS TO BE THERE FOR A CHILD - Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Amador County is seeking volunteers to join their next training session to become volunteer advocates.
A volunteer advocate, known as a CASA, after 40 hours of training, are assigned to be a special person in the life of a child who has been neglected or abused. The court will appoint the CASA to be the eyes and ears of the court and to report back to the court information they have gathered. The CASA will also tell the court what decisions and services may be in the best interest of that child.
CASA of Amador currently has a waiting list of children who are in need of a CASA.

This program also gives the location the opportunity to be known for original art on their walls and to promote awareness of original art. The exhibits rotate every 2 months.
Our current locations include Rosebud’s Cafe (downtown Jackson); the Superior Court of CA, County of Amador; American River Bank; Amador Senior Center; Sierra Eye Care; Amador Residential Care; Jackson Paint Spot; and Castle Oaks Golf Club in Ione. Currently, the program has a good balance of artists to locations. New artists and locations are always welcome. If you are looking to fill some time, build your resume, get some exercise, and give back to the community, the Food Bank has a variety of opportunities to do so.
