ANNUAL FIDDLETOWN SCHOOLHOUSE BREAKFAST - Autumn is the perfect time to enjoy the colorful fall foliage and a hearty morning meal out in the country. You are invited to attend the Fiddletown Preservation Society's all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet and bake sale on Sunday, November 5th, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Fiddletown Community Center at 14445 Fiddletown Rd, Fiddletown, CA. All proceeds benefit the continued preservation of the original one-room Fiddletown Schoolhouse on American Flat Road.
The structure was built in 1862, and served children in grades 1 through 8 until 1955 when the school closed and students began attending school in the town of Plymouth six miles away. The FPS began restoration efforts in 1964. The renovations are now complete. The schoolhouse is currently available to serve as a community learning & cultural center for small concerts, art and historical exhibits, and other public and private events. The Schoolhouse will be open during the hours of the breakfast for visitors.
Prices for the breakfast are $12 for adults, $3 for ages 6 to 16 and $1 for ages 5 and under. The menu includes: French toast, scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, bacon and sausage, pastry and muffins, fresh fruit, milk, orange juice, coffee & tea. A separate bake sale will also be available for guests to take home a piece of Fiddletown country goodness.
Additionally, the Fiddletown Preservation Society will have items of local interest for sale, including the booklet Fiddletown Schoolhouse Memories, which is based on interviews with former students of the Fiddletown/Oleta School conducted by historian Elaine Zorbas.
For more information, contact the Fiddletown Preservation Society President Alice Kaiser at (209) 245-6042 or via email at alicekaiser@hotmail.com. Be sure to visit the FPS website at www.fiddletown.info

WINEFEST 2017 "MYSTERY WINE TABLE" - As you may have heard, our 20th Annual Winefest is coming up very soon! It is going to be on Saturday, November 11th from 4:30 - 9:00PM. It is our largest fundraising event of the year and we look forward to seeing those of you that are planning to attend.
In an effort to meet our fundraising goals, we are reaching out to our members to see if you, a friend, or neighbor might be interested in helping AmadorArts by contributing a bottle of wine to our "Mystery Wine Table". The only requirement is that it must be a red wine with a retail value of $20 or more, which is tax deductible.
All wines donated are concealed in beautiful bags (hence the "mystery"), and made available for purchase to Winefest attendees for $20/bottle.
Proceeds from Winefest, all auctions, and the Mystery Wine Table go to promote, encourage, and support the arts in education. Currently, the AmadorArts Council provides art classes to all K through 6th grade students in Amador County schools. We encourage you to visit our website for more information about our programs and events amadorarts.org
If you are interested in making a wine donation, please drop it off at either of the two following locations:
1. AmadorArts offices - 11A Randolph St., Sutter Creek, sometime before November 3rd. Our office is open Tuesday through Friday. Hours vary so please call us at 209-267-9038 prior to coming to ensure that someone will be there to greet you.
Thank you in advance for your continued support and we hope to see you at Winefest! www.amadorarts.org

FASIS SAFETY COMMUNICATION: HEPATITIS
Concern over Hepatitis A is spreading throughout California. San Diego County first reported an outbreak of Hepatitis A (also referred to as “HAV”) back in November 2016. Since then, Santa Cruz and Los Angeles counties have also declared local outbreaks of this contagious and sometimes deadly liver disease, and other areas of the state continue to report new cases. Most cases tend to be limited to the homeless population and to drug users, but public employees can also be exposed to HAV just performing their daily duties. The attached (below) “Hepatitis A – What You Need to Know” Safety Communication provides some basic tips to assist you in preventing the spread of HAV in your community, and amongst your staff. Please be sure to click on the many helpful links at the end of the bulletin.
This and all previously issued Safety Communications can be accessed at our Risk Control Website; click here to log-in or to register:http://riskcontrol.bickmore.net.

VIA Caltrans and CDFW (California Department of Fish and Wildlife)
BETWEEN NOW and DECEMBER, deer and other wildlife are more susceptible than usual to vehicle collisions.
"Soon, deer will start their annual migrations to winter range, bucks will be preoccupied competing for mates, and bears will be searching for food in preparation for hibernation. Such natural behaviors can lead these animals into the way of unsuspecting drivers."
"Drivers can improve their own safety by simply slowing down and remaining alert while driving. We are committed to safety while being mindful of the environment, using signage, fencing, and under crossings to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions along roadways, especially in wildlife corridors.”
