BUTTE FIRE POSTERS AVAILABLE: I don't know if everyone here knows about this, but I had two Butte Fire fundraising posters printed up. One poster is photos of the fire truck engine insignias...just a fraction of the fire crews who came, from all over, to help fight the fire. The second poster is a collection of photos that shows all the thanks, gratitude and and signs of appreciation that our community expressed toward all who helped. The goal was to raise enough money to help out the volunteer firefighters who lost their homes in the Mountain Ranch area, and if there were enough sales, to help out anyone else who needed it. The posters sell for $20, are 18"x24" and are suitable for framing. They are available at the following locations: Both Twisted Oak Winery tasting rooms, Creative Cookware (Murphys), SNAC (Murphys), Victoria's Frame Shop (Angels), Calaveras Visitor's Center (Angels), and online at
We had 200 of each poster made. When these are gone, there won't be another printing, so now is the time to get one. They will make great gifts, and it's a great way to donate! Please help spread the word. Thanks!

The Camanche Lake & Upcountry Community Centers are coordinating the annual Amador County Angel Tree project.  Last year, Angel Tree provided holiday gifts to over 700 children between the ages of 0 and 17 years.  It is the generosity of folks like you that makes the project so successful!  We are currently requesting unwrapped gifts for children of all ages.  Angels, printed with a local child’s holiday wish list, are available on Angel Trees at a variety of businesses throughout Amador County.  You can sponsor a child by choosing an angel and purchasing a desired gift, or you can make a monetary donation and Community Center staff will purchase the gift on your behalf.  In addition, if someone would like to purchase a generic gift to donate, we will do our best to match the gift with the requests of the unsponsored angels.
Please drop off your unwrapped gifts at the Jackson Elks Lodge, the Upcountry Community Center, Camanche Lake Community Center, Clark’s Corner, Pine Grove Video or Wal-Mart by December 14th.  As you shop and do business locally, you will find the Angel Trees as well as additional gift drop-off location sites.  Thank you so much for your time and generosity.  With your help, the children in our community will have a very happy holiday season!
For more information or to sponsor a child, please call 296-2785.

We are looking for assistance in getting this off the ground. We need mentors, facilitators, and helpers. The helpers will prepare healthy snacks for 40 twice a week, food provided and delivered to school. The facilitators will help with the program in making craft items for the kids, like booklets, magnets and name badges. All supplies paid for by Kiwanis of Amador County.
Want to start a Righturn.Club in your area? Thomas will give you all you need to start one, and speak to your local Kiwanis Club to provide the funding. No cost to students. All mentors will be screened for the safety of the kids. Visit www.Righturn.Club to learn more.
ART IN PUBLIC PLACES - The Amador County Artist Association (ACAA) has several benefits to being a member, one of those being Art in Public Places, where the artist can get regular exposure to build a reputation and occasionally make a sale with no commission fees.  This program also gives the location the opportunity to be known for original art on their walls and to promote awareness of original art. The exhibits rotate every 2 months.
Our current locations include Rosebud’s Cafe (downtown Jackson); the Superior Court of CA, County of Amador; American River Bank; Amador Senior Center; Sierra Eye Care; Amador Residential Care; Jackson Paint Spot; and Castle Oaks Golf Club in Ione.  Currently, the program has a good balance of artists to locations. DOCENTS NEEDED for Monteverde Museum. Presently, the museum is only opened two days out of each month.  When the museum is opened we usually have 20 plus visitors a day.  Local folks, visitors, in state and out of state are always happy to be able to go inside the store and experience the feeling of days gone by. Many will say it is like stepping back in time. Many will also say, they have been through Sutter Creek before and to their dismay the store has been closed.
It would be beneficial for Sutter Creek if the museum would be opened more often. Unfortunately, we have a shortage of docents.  Presently, we have only 4 active docents to open the museum. We really need people to volunteer to just have the doors open to the public. If you know of anyone who has free time to do possibly one day a month, or even a few hours one day a month, please let us know.
Still reaching out for other ideas to encourage folks to volunteer time. If you have any ideas please forward to me at

DO YOU HAVE STACKS OF NEWSPAPERS laying around your house, waiting to be recycled? Then please bring them on down to the Busi Parking lot in Jackson behind Mel's. The Boy Scout Troops of Amador County are collecting your newspaper donations and accept on an on-going basis. The large cargo container sits at the very back of the parking lot. There should be pallets next to the dumpster, where everyone can leave their stacks. Anyone can drop off their newspapers 7 days a week, day or night. We ask that you only donate actual newspapers, no glossy advertising, magazines or books. All proceeds directly benefit the various Troops in Amador County. It's a Win-Win for everyone, Scouts, you and the environment! For more information, contact Jenny Fritz at
