NAMI AT DANDELION DAYS - Dandelion Days has long been a positive event that celebrates Amador merchants and organizations and sometimes brings good weather!  The Amador chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness – NAMI Amador – always participates, shedding light on what is a widespread and costly illness, as common as heart disease or cancer, but much less talked about and researched.
This organization’s commitment is to educate and advocate for more knowledge and better services for families and individuals living with mental illness.  Support for all those affected by mental illness is a major part of our work, with classes and support groups year round.
Stop by our booth at Dandelion Days and pick up free information about mental illnesses and treatment, suicide prevention and about NAMI Amador’s upcoming classes and support groups for people living with mental illness and their families. We provide free bottled waters and homemade cookies to visitors to our booth.

NAMI AMADOR WALKS IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA NAMI WALK - Kickoff Meeting March 24 at 5:00PM. Last year NAMI Amador’s “Believe In Amador” team was the top fundraising team among 150 teams that walked in the Northern California NAMI Walk!  60+ percent of the funds raised stay in our community, providing classes, support groups and outreach to help people living with mental illness and their families cope effectively with this consuming illness.
This year our small but mighty team will walk again with as many members and friends joining us as we can gather!  The date is Saturday May 2, the place is William Land Park in Sacramento, the theme is “Walking Off the Blues,” and event start time is 9:00AM.  NAMI Amador’s day starts with breakfast snacks and attending the inspirational opening ceremonies.
Afterwards we gather for a light lunch, team photos and our own special ceremonies.  Everyone in the Amador community is invited to join us – everyone can walk to show support for the fight against mental illness and stigma surrounding this disease!
The event is FREE, with lots of fun activities, music, food trucks, kids, dogs - and official Walk t-shirts for anyone raising $100 or more.  For NAMI Amador members, there are special t-shirts to designate our team, designed by a beloved brother of a Board member.
Please join us on Tuesday March 24 at 5PM at First 5, 975 Broadway Jackson, for our monthly NAMI Amador meeting and the Kick-Off of our only fundraising event of the year.  We are lucky to have as our guest Pat Pavone of NAMI Sacramento, who is the Team Chair of the Walk to tell us more and inspire us. Come and learn more about the Walk, how to register online or get help from our Walk organizers.
We’ll follow the meeting with a break for snacks, and NAMI Support groups at 6:30 – 8PM. Contact: Kelly Trottier, kjtrottier@volcano.net for more information.

We'll break for a light lunch, provided by MSTW, and then our Costume Designer and Wardrobe mistress, Nancy Street, will discuss the basics of Costume design.
Everyone will have an opportunity to try their hand at a simple design board. It should be a fun learning experience and a great way for you to add to your artistic theatre sensibilities.

DOCENTS NEEDED for Monteverde Museum. Presently, the museum is only opened two days out of each month.  When the museum is opened we usually have 20 plus visitors a day.  Local folks, visitors, in state and out of state are always happy to be able to go inside the store and experience the feeling of days gone by. Many will say it is like stepping back in time. Many will also say, they have been through Sutter Creek before and to their dismay the store has been closed.
It would be beneficial for Sutter Creek if the museum would be opened more often. Unfortunately, we have a shortage of docents.  Presently, we have only 4 active docents to open the museum. We really need people to volunteer to just have the doors open to the public. If you know of anyone who has free time to do possibly one day a month, or even a few hours one day a month, please let us know.
Still reaching out for other ideas to encourage folks to volunteer time. If you have any ideas please forward to me at rkf48@aol.com

AMADOR SENIOR VISITORS PROGRAM NEEDS VOLUNTEERS. Join a great group of people working in the community to help our Senior Citizens live safer, healthier lives. Please call Eileen at 223-0442 for information about how you can help!

DO YOU HAVE STACKS OF NEWSPAPERS laying around your house, waiting to be recycled? Then please bring them on down to the Busi Parking lot in Jackson behind Mel's. The Boy Scout Troops of Amador County are collecting your newspaper donations and accept on an on-going basis. The large cargo container sits at the very back of the parking lot. There should be pallets next to the dumpster, where everyone can leave their stacks. Anyone can drop off their newspapers 7 days a week, day or night. We ask that you only donate actual newspapers, no glossy advertising, magazines or books. All proceeds directly benefit the various Troops in Amador County. It's a Win-Win for everyone, Scouts, you and the environment! For more information, contact Jenny Fritz at artsychickenfarm@gmail.com
