SPONSORSHIPS SOUGHT: Victory Village Amador is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to serving veterans. We operate a transitional housing center for homeless Veterans. We assist with housing, education, life skills, physical and mental wellness. We are holding a couple of fundraisers and would like to ask for your assistance.

AMADOR CHILDREN’S THEATER WORKSHOP -  This is a 4-week Theatre Workshop for girls and boys ages 7-12 with lots of energy and creativity.  Last Year’s workshop was a complete success. The workshop will begin with improvisational games, stage direction & stage presence while building confidence through a theatre team.  The team will learn all aspects of theatre production ending with 2 live performances.  Teaching children respect for others, building self-esteem and reinforcing teamwork to achieve a common goal through performance and fun.

MASTER GARDENERS PRESENTS: CONTROLLING PESTS IN YOUR GARDEN: EVERYTHING FROM INSECTS TO GOPHERS - On Saturday May 17 Amador County Master Gardeners will offer a free public education class on controlling invertebrate (insects) and vertebrate pests (gophers, moles, voles, squirrels, rabbits, etc.) in your garden and landscape. The class will present an overview of the use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in controlling pests. IPM is a process that can be used to manage pest problems while minimizing risk to people and the environment. Attracting good insects to your yard will also be covered. Plants (mostly vegetables) will be on sale from 8:30- 10:30. This class will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Amador County GSA Building, 12200-B Airport Road Jackson/Martell. MOTHER LODE RAGTIME SOCIETY - The next meeting of the Mother Lode Ragtime Society is scheduled for May 17, 2014 at the Sutter Creek Ice Cream Emporium - 7:00 - 9:30 p.m..  Tom Brier will be on hand to provide lots of toe-tapping music; We're hoping that Elliott Adams and Julia Riley will be there as well. As always, all who would like to play are welcome.

Amador Flyfishers (AFF) welcomes Warden Darrell Stevenson of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife at7:00pm on Tuesday May 20, 2014 in the Amador County Administration Center at 810 Court Street, Jackson.  Mr. Stevenson will be discussing Fish and Wildlife regulations, the ongoing challenges faced by CDFW, and current notable cases/problems in Amador and surrounding counties.  AFF meets the third Tuesday of each month to socialize with other flyfishers, share local fishing reports, and to support fishery conservation issues.  Visitors welcome! AMADOR COUNTY LIBRARY PRESENTS an evening with Historians JoAnn Levy, Carolyn Fregulia and Jim Norris on Thursday, May 22, 2014  5:30 pm, Amador County Library  530 Sutter St. Jackson. Come explore our local history with our distinguished panel of historians. This is a rare opportunity to have all three together.  They will give a little background as to what they have researched, written and discovered, then they will be open for discussion and answering your questions.Jim is a member of the Amador Historical Society.  Along with his wife Lynne, their publishing company published over sixty books and pamphlets  on the history of the Central California Coast. JoAnn is an author of books that focus on the roles women played during the California Gold Rush. 12th ANNUAL “TRASH TO TREASURES” - The 12th Annual Trash To Treasures event, Sutter Creek’s largest street fair, will be held on Saturday May 24th from 8am till close. What they say is true…one gal’s trash is another gal’s treasure. Vendors from all over will be selling everything, new and old, with a host of antiques, collectibles and wonderful junk! Live music, provided by Wicked Sisters, will fill the air as you meander through the booths. There will be so much to see and buy, it can fill your whole day, but don’t forget to wander down historic Main Street and visit all the wonderful and unique shops there also. NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS (NAMI AMADOR) - The Amador County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Amador) is holding an affiliate meeting and support group on Tuesday, May 27th in the Multi-conference Room at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. FREE YOGA EVENT COMES TO JACKSON - On May 31, local yoga enthusiasts will present a FREE opportunity for all ages to try a gentle yoga session, outdoors in Detert Park.  All levels are welcome, even if you’ve never done yoga before.  No pre-registration is required – check in starting at 9:30am. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water and a mat if you have one. If not, bring a large towel or two. FIRST ANNUAL ROTARY  “SHOW & SHINE” CAR & VINTAGE AIRCRAFT SHOW – Sat May 31 at the Eagle’s Nest Airport in Ione, off of Ione Road. The show expects cars from throughout California and Nevada, and will feature vehicles in all categories from street rods to stock pre-1960, modified, foreign cars and more. Some trucks will also be on display.
Food, beverage and auto accessory vendors will be on site to accommodate all attendees. Amador County is known for its fine wines, and several vintners will be on-site for tasting.  A pancake breakfast will be served by the local Boy Scout Troop 477 from 7:00 to 10:30 AM. All proceeds from this breakfast will be donated to the Troop. For those with a sweet tooth, Boy Scout Troop 581 will be serving sundaes. Other food vendors will include a variety of tasty faire.
All proceeds will go to local youth organizations and the Interfaith Food Bank. General admission for the public will be $5.00 per car. GENTLE YOGA CLASSES - Team Fitness in Pine Grove is proud to announce the start of a Beginning Hatha Yoga Program with classes offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting in early April.
Classes will run approximately 40 minutes and will probably cost $4 with a purchase of a 10 class pass, ($5 drop-in) or can be included as part of your monthly membership if you come regularly to Team Fitness. NEW “AMADOR RIDES” VOLUNTEER DRIVER PROGRAM SEEKS VOLUNTEERS - Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer experience that provides a meaningful service to your neighbors in Amador County? Then consider volunteering for the new Amador Rides Volunteer Driver Program. 
The program is designed to help Amador County residents who have no other means of transportation get to healthcare appointments. Amador Rides is a collaborative program of the Social Service Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC), plus other local service providers, with Amador Transit Mobility Management spearheading the program.
