THE AMADOR COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB will provide a demonstration of communication emergency preparedness on Sat & Sun, June 28th and 29th. They will set up their equipment under simulated emergency conditions and communicate with other amateur radio (HAM) stations around the country during the annual ARRL Field Day event. This event allows hams to practice skills they will be called upon to use in the event of a local emergency or disaster, and gives the public an opportunity to come by and observe, and even participate, in the making of contact, by various forms of radio communication. The local activity will be located in the parking lot area across the street from Daffodil Hill on Shake Ridge Road. The event starts at Noon on Saturday and concludes at Noon on Sunday. The public is invited to come by and spend time learning more about the hobby and its contribution to community safety.  MOVIE NIGHT AT THE CASTLE - Sat July 12 at 9PM at the Preston Castle, Preston Castle Courtyard, 900 (end of) Palm Dr., Ione, CACome join us for movie night under the stars on the Preston Castle Courtyard. The featured film is "Preston Castle the Movie". This full length horror film takes place in and around the mysterious, eerie, Preston Castle.  Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a Hitchcock style thriller filmed right here at the Castle.  Also showing will be the episode of the reality TV game show "The Great Escape" that was filmed at the Castle. NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS (NAMI Amador) - The Amador County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Amador) is holding an affiliate meeting and support group on Tuesday, June 24th in the Multi-conference Room at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. The guest speaker will be Karen Dickerson from the Amador County Community College Foundation. The subject of her talk will be the Human Services Certificate Program that the Foundation offers and the scholarships that are available this for Program from by the Behavioral Health Department. CHILI COOK-OFF DATE CHANGE - The Chili Cook-Off &Car Show has moved to October 12th…the second Sunday of October. Applications are on the web site at: www.suttercreek.org. AMADOR COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES (CASA) TRAINING CLASS STARTS IN JULY - CASA uses trained volunteers to work with children who are involved with the local Dependency Court. The children are members of a family in which they have become abused or neglected. The CASA volunteer works with the child to make sure that the child is receiving all the services and support necessary to help them overcome any deficits and to achieve success as they grow and mature. The volunteer provides information to the Court which in turn allows the Court to make sure the family is able to minimize the possibility of any similar situations in the future.
The CASA program is having a training class starting in July and welcomes anyone who has an interest in helping a child achieve their full potential. The only requirement is time to spend with the child and a good heart. For an application and/or more information please contact John Stettler at 223-1485 x264 or email at jstettler@atcaa.org. Right now there is a critical need for volunteers and children are waiting for someone who cares. It is a fulfilling experience you will never regret, or as we say “Working with children is a life changing experience”

THE CHILDREN’S STUDIO Summer Program 2014. Our Summer Program offers art workshops for youngsters aged 6 through 12. Each workshop meets three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, for two hours per day, 1 to 3 pm.  Class size is limited to 8 students.  Reservations and deposit required.  $40 per workshop, all materials provided.
This summer we are also offering fabric arts on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:30 to 12:30 am for children and adults on a continuing bases, that is, reserve as many times as you wish.  Group size limited to 6. We’ll start with hand stitching and graduate into machine sewing.  $15 per morning, initial materials provided, larger project materials must be purchased.  Ages 6 and up.
Painting classes offered on Thursday mornings, 10:30 to 12:30 am on a continuing basis, $15 per day, all materials provided.  Group size limited to 6.Ages 6 and up. Reserve as many times as you wish.

AMADOR CHILDREN’S THEATER WORKSHOP -  This is a 4-week Theatre Workshop for girls and boys ages 7-12 with lots of energy and creativity.  Last Year’s workshop was a complete success. The workshop will begin with improvisational games, stage direction & stage presence while building confidence through a theatre team.  The team will learn all aspects of theatre production ending with 2 live performances.  Teaching children respect for others, building self-esteem and reinforcing teamwork to achieve a common goal through performance and fun.
Marty Brifman will be the returning Director with over 30 yrs. of experience.

ACRA’S SUMMER DAY CAMP AT THE HUB!
For kids ages 7-13 years of age, is an all day camp including games crafts, exploring, building and swimming! The Cost of the Day Camp is $125 per week. The camp will run Monday – Friday (9-5pm)
Each Camper should bring a bag lunch, personal sun screen, swim suit and towel. The fee provides each camper with a t-shirt, water, pool entry and a daily snack, plus opportunity to explore new things, meet new friends, learn new games, and find new confidence in a positive environment.
Minimum of 10 campers are needed for each session.

GENTLE YOGA CLASSES - Team Fitness in Pine Grove is proud to announce the start of a Beginning Hatha Yoga Program with classes offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting in early April.
Classes will run approximately 40 minutes and will probably cost $4 with a purchase of a 10 class pass, ($5 drop-in) or can be included as part of your monthly membership if you come regularly to Team Fitness. We are taking suggestions on times you would like to see these classes offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - please send an email with your interest in the gentle yoga classes and times you are interested in, and we will contact you before the program starts.
