AMADOR COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES (CASA) TRAINING CLASS STARTS IN JULY - CASA uses trained volunteers to work with children who are involved with the local Dependency Court. The children are members of a family in which they have become abused or neglected. The CASA volunteer works with the child to make sure that the child is receiving all the services and support necessary to help them overcome any deficits and to achieve success as they grow and mature. The volunteer provides information to the Court which in turn allows the Court to make sure the family is able to minimize the possibility of any similar situations in the future.
The CASA program is having a training class starting in July and welcomes anyone who has an interest in helping a child achieve their full potential. The only requirement is time to spend with the child and a good heart. For an application and/or more information please contact John Stettler at 223-1485 x264 or email at Right now there is a critical need for volunteers and children are waiting for someone who cares. It is a fulfilling experience you will never regret, or as we say “Working with children is a life changing experience”

AMADOR FLYFISHERS (AFF) MEETING -  Amador Flyfishers (AFF) welcomes guest speaker Thomas (Tj) Ferreira of Tenkara USA Flyrods on Tuesday June 17, 2014 at 6:00pm in the Amador County Administration Center at 810 Court Street, Jackson.  Tenkara is one of the oldest (and now latest) flyfishing crazes: this traditional Japanese method of flyfishing is ideal for fly-fishing mountain streams, using a rod with an attached/fixed line (no reel!) and a non-weighted fly.  Starting at 6:00pm, Tj will demonstrate how to tie Tenkara flies.  Our general meeting will begin at 7:00pm, followed by Tj's discussion of the culture of Tenkara flyfishing and a hands-on use of Tenkara rods.  AFF meets the third Tuesday of each month to socialize with other flyfishers and to support fishery conservation issues.  Visitors welcome - drop in and check us out!( Contact: Ron Calvert,
