AARP TAX-AIDE PROGRAM NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
The AARP Tax-Aide program, which assists with tax preparation at the Amador Senior Center Amador County
Tax-Aide volunteers are trained as tax counselors (trained by Tax-Aide and certified by IRS) and as client facilitators (who assist clients at our tax site). There is a one day orientation class in December and a one week class for tax counselors starts on January 20th. Tax work is done from February 1st to April 15th. The tax preparation work this year will be done exclusively at the Amador Senior Center
Volunteers need to be computer literate but do not need any special tax or accounting skills. Of the 16 volunteers that we currently have in the program (and we need 4-5 more), only a few have been CPA’s or tax preparers. Also, just as a general reference, volunteers can expect to work one or two days a week during the tax season.
