2013 was a year of significant growth for Amador Community News. Our little
news blog has reached over 33,000 hits on its main page, with thousands of hits
in our other departments (the departments with the highest number of hits this
year were: AmadorGovernment.com, AmadorArts.com, and AmadorBusiness.com). Our
social networks on Facebook (over 3,600 Friends!) and Twitter have greatly
helped in the awareness of the activities and events going on in Amador County
I say "our" because I've always held to the belief that ACN is not mine, but YOUR community news blog. ACN has been going strong since April of 2007, not only because of our supporting advertisers, but because there are many great folks out there who have caught onto the "inform...and be informed" vision.
Thanks to all of YOU...ACN will continue to be the gift that keeps on giving, every day...in 2014, and beyond!

STORYTIME AT CLARK’S CORNER – Tues Dec 24 from 9-9:45 AM at Clarks Corner,12 West Main Street in Ione. Every Tuesday morning at Clark 's Corner, we offer Storytime! A great way to get out with your children and socialize with other parents. Come down and enjoy a delicious coffee or pastry while one of our local volunteers reads story books to your children! OLD SOLES AT THE VOLCANO UNION INN ON SUNDAY DEC 29 - The acoustic Americana duo "Old Soles", Masha and Geff Crawford on banjo, fiddle, guitar, tinwhistle, and more, will perform on Sunday, December 29, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Volcano Union Inn in Volcano, California. INTRODUCTION TO ASTRONOMY: Folsom Lake College will be offering an Introduction to Astronomy class in the Spring Semester from January 18 until May 21, 2014. This class is in a Interactive Television (ITV) format which means the instructor and students will interact and view each other on a real-time basis. Class sessions are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:20 pm (two sessions per week). This is class is worth 3 semester credits and is taught by Bob Laurent. The class will be given at the Amador County Transit Center in Sutter Hill - 117 Valley View Way, Sutter Creek, CA 95685. This center is at the intersection of Valley View Way and Bowers Ave. For enrollment information please call 209 223-6393.
DEVELOPING & OPERATING A SMALL SCALE COMMERCIAL KITCHEN –Join Farms of Amador on Saturday, January 11th from 5:30 to 8 pm for a potluck gathering at the Amador City Community Hall to learn about developing and operating a small scale commercial kitchen. Professional caterers Lucy Spangler Gore and Bill Gore will share their experience in building and operating a small scale commercial kitchen in Amador Co. Farms of Amador is excited to present this topic, the development of which will allow farmers to process their products in order to add value and increase customer appeal. This will also be an opportunity to network with the region's food producers, chefs and consumers interested in quality regional foods. Cost of the event is $10 for those who bring a pot-luck dish to share and $15 for those who come without a dish. Please bring your own place setting in an effort to reduce waste.

CHINA PAINTING WITH MARGARET ANWAY – Margaret Anway has decades of experience painting, as well as teaching china and glass painting. She has been published in “The China Decorator” magazine, and is happy teaching beginning artists as well as professional, and is flexible to your needs.
