UPDATE ON SOUP (Save Our Upcountry Payless)
So far, we have
collected nearly a thousand signatures on our petition to save the
Payless IGA store...and we are still working on it! Today, tomorrow and
Friday a couple of us will be gathering petitions in front of the store
from 3-6pm. We could still use volunteers to do this since we intend
to send the petitions under a strong cover letter by May 1. Please call
Cherylanne at 295-8846 if you can volunteer.
We
have met not one person who wants this store to become Family Dollar
Store, so we are hopeful our work here will have an impact. Please feel
free to go to our UCC webpage, uccamador.com ,
to print a copy of the petition and gather as many signatures as you
can in your neighborhoods, churches, etc. The petitions should be
dropped at Porky's Pizza in Buckhorn, as it says at bottom of the
petition.
I will provide another update next week, as well I will send the meeting notice and agenda for our May 13 UCC meeting.

LIBRARY CLOSURE (Temporary) - The Amador County Library and all the branches will be closed Monday May 6th and Tuesday May 7th for a library system upgrade. PLEASE NOTE: The library catalog, downloadable e-books, individual library accounts will be unavailable during the upgrade. We hope to be back up running sometime Tuesday the 7th.
